Sometimes the dreams that come true are the dreams you never even knew you had. I love how unpredictable life could be… If only 4 months ago, someone's told me, that I will end up spending my summer in Portugal - I’d probably laugh, not believing it at all. Right now, I’m living the best months of my life in sunny Lisbon and can’t even think about being anywhere else. Actually, I’m asking myself, how did it happen, that I’ve never thought about moving here before!
Some people asked me, how am I enjoying my new experience and how does it feel compared to Scotland, and every time I tell them the same thing. What I’ve realised is, that I’m happy in Edinburgh, because everything is great there, however my heart is full in Lisbon. Since I came to Portugal – I’m feeling alive. Every day seem to be a new adventure and I truly enjoy every single minute of it. During the past three months, I’ve met such an amazing people, that made my life much more colorful and created the memories for a lifetime.
But where did it all start? During the last academic year, all I was thinking about was to get my internship in the US - of course New York City and California were on my “dream list”, so I have sent many applications, but with no bigger results. In a meanwhile, I’ve joined the EuroPeers network in February and this experience changed my perspective on things. Then, in April, I met my Italian friend Margarita and she inspired me to apply for the internship in Lisbon, which was one of the best decisions I have ever made.
Chic Every Weather is the name of the company that I’m working for. I am a digital marketing and content creation intern and I absolutely love this experience. My boss Joana is the most amazing person in the world and working environment in the company is just so great! Except of being CHIC’s editor and a marketing person, I also have a chance to work with the UX and UI designers, which is something completely new for me, but I’m learning a lot.
Through my experience in 2019, I’ve learnt two important lessons so far. First of them is - always keep trying, because no matter what, finally you will get where you want to be. And the second one is - never settle for less. Never ever. This internship in Portugal is the best thing that happened to me this year. I have no words to describe how happy I am right now in my life. These three months out of my comfort zone, gave me so much confidence, strength and faith in myself, that now I feel like anything is possible and I DO REALLY MEAN IT.
All I want to say is, that it’s so important to take one significant life-transforming step at a time. Doing my internship in Lisbon is one of these steps – the kind of steps that lead to big accomplishments. #lifeiscrazy
